Diagnostic Assessment for Learners with Special Educational needs

Overview

  This is the professional diagnosis of special educational needs of learners referred by their teachers.

Who is eligible?

Any student from pre-primary to senior secondary school with a suspected learning disability.

How do I get this service?
  • The teacher refers the child for diagnostic screening at the Regional Education Office.
  • Where necessary the child will be referred to an Educational Psychologist for professional assessment.
  • The Educational Psychologist will provide feedback in the form of a written report to the school and the parent/guardian. 

NB: Parental input/participation may be called for at any time during the process.

  • Learner's medical record
  • Most recent academic report
  • School referral report
How long will this service take?

Time taken is dependent upon the complexity of each case.

How much does it cost?

There is no charge for this service.
