Guinea Fowl Farming Permit

Overview

The service is for those who want to farm or breed Guinea Fowl within Botswana. This service is closely monitored by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks.

Who is eligible?

Citizens and non -citizens who are eighteen (18) years of age and above

How do I get this service?
  • Download, complete and submit the Guinea Fowl Farming Application Form together with supporting documentation in person
  • You will be contacted for an inspection of the “pen” (where the guinea fowl will be housed) as per the guinea fowl structure guidelines
  • A permit will be issued to you by surface mail, email or collected in person should all aspects of the application process be satisfactory
What supporting documents are required?
  • Certified copy of Title Deed, Lease Agreement Form or Plot Certificate
  • A certified copy of a valid National Identity Card (Omang)
  • A certified copy of Passport for Non-Citizens
  • Letter of consent and certified copy of identity card from landlord (if land is leased)
  • Guinea fowl structure or the pen (where the guinea fowl will be housed)

License for Professional Guides

Overview

This licence is for all those who want to become Professional Guides in Botswana serving specifically within the Tourism industry. All guides working in Botswana must obtain this licence as mandated by the Wildlife Conservation and National Parks Acts of 1992. This license is valid for one (1) year.

Who is eligible?

Citizens

  • 18 years of age and above
  • Holder of  Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) or Cambridge Overseas Certificate (COSC)
  • With one (1) year of related field experience
  • Valid driver’s license

Non-Citizens

  •  21 years of age and above
  • Holder of  minimum of secondary school education or equivalent to Cambridge Overseas Certificate (COSC)
  • Valid Driver’s license
How do I get this service?
  • Write and submit the application letter together with supporting documentation in person or by surface mail in response to the circulated advertisement  
  • Sit for a theory and practical examination once shortlisted.

Citizens:

  • Certified copy of certificates (academic and professional)
  • Three (3) Professional references
  • Certified copy of valid National Identity Card (Omang)
  • Must possess a valid driving licence in Class B category

Non-Citizens:

  • Certified copy of resident and work permit or waivers
  • Brief summary of career with duties (CV)
  • Certified copy of certificates (academic and professional)
  • Three (3) Professional references
  • Certified copy of valid Passport
  • Must possess a valid driving licence in Class B category
  • Provide Professional Guide license held

Trophy Dealer Licence

Overview

The Trophy Dealer Licence is required by individuals who want to sell or deal in wildlife trophies (animal products). It is utilised by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks to monitor wildlife “trophy selling” activities within Botswana. All “Sellers” or “Dealers” are expected to show this Licence upon request. This Licence is valid for a period of 1 year, it is renewable and not transferable.

Who is eligible?

Citizens and non-citizens who are 18 years of age and above.

How do I get this service?
  1. Complete and Submit the Trophy Dealer’s Licence Form with supporting documentation in person or by post.
  2. Notification of inspection of the premises within which trophies are sold/held will be communicated by telephone or surface mail.
  3. A license will be issued following approval of the premises and payment of fees.
What supporting documents are required?
  • Citizens - Certified copy of National Identity Card (Omang)
  • Non-Citizens - Certified copy of Passport  
  • Certified copy of land ownership certificate or letter of consent from landlord (if land is leased) or Title Deed

Eight  (8) working days.

Environmental Filming and Photography Permit

Overview

The service is for those who are looking to produce films or take photographs within environmentally protected areas of the Republic of Botswana. These include all National Parks and Game Reserves. Prospective filmmakers may apply either directly or through a registered Film-fixer. All successful applicants will be required to sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Government of Botswana before a permit can be issued. In cases where a Film-fixer submitted the application, the MoA must be signed by the filmmaker themselves, not the fixer.

How do I get this service?
  • Download, complete and submit the Filming Application form
  • The Filming Approval Panel (FAP) reviews the application and makes a recommendation
  • After both parties have signed the Memorandum(MoA) of Agreement, the filming permit will be processed and then dispatched to the applicant, along with a copy of the signed MoA

  • Citizens - Certified copy of valid national identity card (Omang)
  • Non-Citizens - Certified copy of valid Passport

Veldt Product Exporters Permit

Overview

The Permit regulates and monitors sustainable utilisation of Veldt Products. A Veldt Product means non-domesticated, vegetative biological resources that may be used for construction, medical, food, cultural activities and firewood. The Permit is valid for 30 days from date of issuance.

  • Residents with valid resident permits and passports who are 18 years and above
  • Non-residents with valid passports who are 18 years and above

Download, complete and submit the Veldt Product Exporters Permit Form to the nearest Department of Forestry and Range Resources office.
