How do I get this service?
  • Send a formal invitation letter to the Assignment Editor, by email, hand delivery or through post office
  • Letter should state type of event, date, venue and time
  • Confirm if letter has been received
  • Assignment Editor would then use his or her discretion on coverage of the event

A detailed official letter of request specifying the date, time and venue of the event.

Two (2) days after coverage.

Application for Research Permit

Overview

Individuals wishing to conduct research in Botswana must first apply for a research permit. This Permit ensures that information on Botswana is not misrepresented and it also assists in monitoring the kind of research done in the country. Individuals residing outside the country should submit their application documents at least one month before their intended travel to Botswana.

Citizens and non-citizens wishing to undertake research in Botswana.

How do I get this service?

Download, complete and submit the Research Permit Application Form with the relevant supporting documents.

What supporting documents are required?
  • A letter of endorsement from the applicant’s sponsoring institution and/or funding agency.
  • If the applicant is not affiliated to any institution, the endorsement should come from a person of professional standing in the field of the applicant’s discipline, supporting the application and providing assurance that the research will conform to these guidelines.
  • Detailed curriculum vitae for all researchers (including passport particulars).
  • Research document or proposal.

Ten (10) working days.

The Permit can be taken from the Ministry or Department that your Research is based on.

Overview

Facilitation of  journalists (local and international) for news coverage in the Botswana. The application must be submitted at least one month before the intended travel to Botswana.

Download, complete and submit the Press Accreditation Form with the relevant supporting documents.

What supporting documents are required?
  • Copies of the first two pages of the applicant’s passport
  • Two (2) passport sized photos
  • An official assignment letter from the media organisation.

    This letter should the following:

  1. Confirm that the journalist/photographer is on an assignment for the news agency/newspaper/station
  2. State the event or topic the journalist/photographer is covering
  3. Provide the time frame required for coverage
  4. Provide a copy of the press card or other form of identification that confirms that the journalist is employed by the specific media house.

Three (3) working days.

Disaster Relief

Overview

It enhances response and offers relief to households affected by disasters in the form of loaned tents, mobile toilets, water tanks or any other non-perishable supplies, blankets, clothing and access to medical services.

Citizens and non-citizens.

How do I get this service?
  • Report the disaster occurrence to the nearest District Commissioner’s Office within twenty four (24) hours of having experienced the disaster.
  • The District Commissioner will then instruct a Social Worker to conduct a thorough needs assessment on the affected household hence assisted accordingly.
What supporting documents are required?

A valid National Identity card (Omang).

How long will this service take?

Five (5) working days.

How much does it cost?

No cost.
